About Alisa Marie — Encaustic Artist & Creative Entrepreneur
Hi, I’m Alisa Marie, a contemporary, self-taught encaustic artist, breathing new life into this ancient wax medium with bold color, texture, and heart.
My Journey
My encaustic journey began in 2013 as a form of art therapy after a traumatic brain injury changed my life. What started with crayons, a hairdryer, and a fork quickly became a source of healing, self-discovery, and creative joy. That journey now lives on in everything I create, including my Color Energy Readings, where I intuitively translate color messages and healing through wax and words.
Over time, I developed my encaustic paints from beeswax, damar resin, and pigments, allowing me to create art from start to finish with intention and care. Through chronic illness, grief, and physical challenges, art has remained my refuge and my way of connecting with others.
I come from a long line of artists and entrepreneurs, with cherished memories of spending time in my grandmother’s ceramic studio in Peabody, Massachusetts. Today, I carry that creative legacy in my studio at the Lane House Arts Center in New Hampshire.
My Art & Inspiration
Influenced by Van Gogh’s fearless use of color and movement, as well as Frida Kahlo’s raw emotional storytelling, I pour my experiences into each piece. Every painting expresses resilience, emotion, and hope, created to brighten spaces and hearts alike. Explore my artwork.
My work spans designer textiles for commercial licensing, healing jewelry, home décor, and fine art prints through Fine Art America, as well as art-to-wear collections on Redbubble, all designed to bring beauty and joy into everyday life.
I also create heartfelt collections inspired by personal stories, including
🧡 Mom’s Italian Kitchen - a nostalgic tribute to warmth, family, and heritage,
❤️ Always Beside You - a memorial collection inspired by a cardinal painting, created in honor of my mother.
🐾 Angel Paws - a colorful, comforting design that celebrates the love of our fur babies.
My Mission
As a woman-owned small business, my mission is:
To create art and products that inspire joy, celebrate individuality, and remind us all of the strength we carry within.
Beyond the Studio
When I’m not painting with molten wax, you’ll often find me designing, cooking, writing poetry, singing, playing the keyboard, or reading, and writing my blog, all of which inspire and fuel my creativity.
